The suspects of the Bakhchisaray “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” were arrested

The Kiev district court of Simferopol extended the arrest for two months to the participants of the Bakhchisarai “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” Memet Belyalov, Marlen (Suleiman) Asanov, Ernets Ametov, Server Mustafayev and Edma Smailov. This was reported in the group of the “Crimean solidarity” movement.

All five of the accused were kept in pre-trial detention before August 9. According to lawyers, the court motivated the decision only “by the weight of the crime.” The meeting was held in closed session.

Timur Ibragimov, Server Zekiryaev and Seyran Saliev were also prolonged until 9 August.

“Hizb ut-Tahrir” by the decision of the Supreme Court is recognized as terrorist organization. However, a number of experts of human rights organizations, including the “Owl” center, believe that there is no reason for this – members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were not seen in the involvement in the commission or preparation of terrorist acts.

Servers Mustafayev and Eden Smailov were detained on May 21 after searches in their houses. On both of them a case was started of participation in a terrorist organization (p. 2 act. 205.5 CC). Server Mustafayev believes that the prosecution is connected with his active work in the public association “Crimean Solidarity”

Suleyman Asanov is accused of organizing terrorist activities (part 1 of article 205.5 CC). Timur Ibragimov, Server of Zekiryaev, Seyran Saliev, Memet Belyalov and Ernes Ametov – in participation in terrorist activities (part 2 of article 205.5 CC). On October 13, 2017 they were arrested.
