The Supreme Court of Crimea rejected the appeal of the Crimean resident Zekia Kulametov’s defense, thus confirming that his punishment of 10 days of administrative detention for his post on Facebook and for resistance to the police during the search of the Kulametovs’ house in the Old Crimea was legal. “Crimea. Reality” states so referring to its own correspondent.
During the court hearing, Kulametov denied resisting the police and asked to investigate the video proving his words. His lawyer Nazim Sheikhmambetov pointed out to the judge that the police did not introduce themselves, did not state to Kulametov his rights, and used force and special equipment against him without any legal grounds.
“In addition to the standard petitions, we challeged the judge after she refused to watch the video from the scene. The video shows that Kulametov did not resist, on the contrary, the police brutally detained him, used force, handcuffed him and dragged him away, ” Sheikhmambetov commented the court’s decision.
Most of the petitions – about viewing of the video of the scene, about interrogation of witnesses and religious scholars, about the photo, as well as the video recording of the court hearing were rejected by the judge Natalya Mostovenko.
Ten-day of Kulametov’s admin-arrest, expired on September 14, but the court reviewed the appeal of this decision only on September 18.
In the morning of September 4, a search was carried out in the house of the Kulametov family, in the Old Crimea. Later, three members of the family were taken to the police station.
After annexation of Crimea, the actual Russian authorities conduct mass searches of independent journalists, civil activists, activists of the Crimean-Tatar national movement, members of the Mejlis of the Crimean-Tatar people, as well as of the Crimean Muslims linked to the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir that is banned in Russia.
