The activist participated in the meeting via video communication from the predetention centre. This is posted by “Crimea. Reality” with a reference to their correspondent.
On July 13 the Zheleznodorozhnyj district court of Simferopol rejected the application of the lawyer Olga Dinze about the release on parole of an Ukrainian activist Vladimir Balukh on the first verdict. At the beginning of the trial, the prosecutor Denis Myshkin filed a request to stop the consideration of the parole application on the first verdict, since a new verdict was already passed. The judge Dmitry Mikhailov granted the prosecutor’s request.
On July 5 the Razdolnensky district court sentenced the Ukrainian activist Vladimir Balukh to 5 years in a general-regime penal colony and imposed a 10,000 rubles fine in a combination of two criminal cases.
The FSB of Russia arrested Vladimir Balukh on December 8, 2016. The FSB officials claimed that they found 90 rounds and several TNT charges in the attic of Vladimir Balukh’ house. The court of Crimea found Balukh guilty of ammunition storage and sentenced him to 3 years and 5 months in a colony-settlement, as well as a fine of 10 thousand rubles.
The lawyer of Balukh and human rights activists assert that he has become a victim of repressions for his pro-Ukrainian position – because of the flag of Ukraine he had placed in the courtyard of his house.
