Foreign agents

On July 13, 2012, the State Duma of Russia adopted amendments to the law “On non-profit organizations”, which introduced the concept of “foreign agent” for non-profit organizations. Since that time, as we believe, a massive illegal prosecution of NPOs in Russia has begun, with many organizations being subjected to detailed inspections, most of which were forcibly included in the Register of Foreign Agents. For many organizations, this has led to the suspension or even termination of their activities.

We monitor the inspections carried out by the Ministry of Justice, trials related to challenging enrollment in the register, decisions of organizations after obtaining the status of a foreign agent. Violations of the powers of the inspection bodies, broad interpretation of the legislation were recorded.
