On August 31, the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol extended the arrest of Enver Seytosmanov, accused of the involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, until November 7 (p. 2 a. 205.5 CC). This is mentioned on the Facebook page of the Crimean Solidarity public organization. The meeting was held in a closed session. The brother of Seytosmanov Ernes was allowed to hear the announcing of judge’s decision.
Earlier, the lawyer of the arrested told that his client had problems with his health in the remand center.
The brothers Enver and Ernes Seytosmanov were detained on May 10 during searches in the village of Orlinoy in the Balaklava district of Sevastopol. Later, Ernes was released, and a criminal case was opened against Ernes on the basis of part 2 of the article 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization).
The Seytosmanovs are the cousins of Nuri Primov, a participant of the Hizb ut-Tahrir case in the Crimea.
Enver Seytosmanov is on “Sentsov’ List” – a list of political prisoners whose release was demanded by the convicted director.
In 2016, Primov, Sayfullayev, and Vaitov were sentenced to five years in a general regime colony on the charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. Zeytullaev was originally sentenced to seven years in prison, but after the prosecutor’s office appeal, the sentence was extended to 12 years in a strict-security colony, and later to 15 years.
Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognized as a terrorist organization on the territory of Russia. Terrorism criminal cases have been started in various regions on the country, while members of the organization’s cells are accused and sentenced to various terms in a strict regime colony solely on the grounds of having met in apartments, read religious literature, and recruited new participants.
