The International human rights mission visited Crimea

Human rights activists of “The House of Human Rights” from Azerbaijan, Belarus and Ukraine visited Crimea from September 14 to 18.

“The reason for our visit to Crimea is that we have noticed how every year it is discussed less and less in international talks. In fact, in four years Crimea has turned into a gray zone, where there is no access to international organizations that protect human rights. Earlier human rights organizations still went there themselves, but now they barely ever come. We negotiated with a network of human rights organizations to form this commission. “This was the first trip to Crimea for the network”- said the head of the Center of Information on Human Rights Tatyana Pechonchik.

The day before the UN once again called on Russia to provide international missions with access to the annexed Crimea.

After the annexation of Crimea by Russia, authorities conduct mass searches of independent journalists, social activists, the activists of the Crimean-Tatar national movement, members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, and Crimean Muslims linked to “Hizb ut-Tahrir,” an organization banned in Russia.
