The General Prosecutors Office declared the American environmental organization to be a threat to Russia

The General Prosecutors office recognized the American Pacific Environment organization (PERC, Pacific Center for the Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources) as “undesirable”, according to the website of the agency.

“It is established that the work of the organization is a threat to the fundamentals of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation and the security of the state,” the General Prosecutors Office writes.

The Pacific Center for the Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources was founded in 1987 in San Francisco. The main goal of the organization – the protection of the environment and natural resources of the Pacific.

Over the past 20 years, PERC has worked with Russian environmentalists to provide an opportunity for people living in coastal regions to influence the environment. The organization stands for the wise and responsible management of fisheries and for the environmental control of the extraction of oil and other minerals.
