The participants of Simferopol case “Hizb ut-Tahrir” have been extended for arrest for two months

The Supreme Court of Crimea on June 8 extended arrest for two months to the participants of the Simferopol “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” Teymur Abdullayev, Uzeir Abdullayev, Aider Saledinov, Rustem Ismailov, Emil Jemadenov. This was told by attorney Sergei Legostov. “Uzeyir Abdullayevs arrest was prolonged until August 10. The general term is 22 months. The rest is the same: one of the suspects was extended until August 11, “Legostov said.

In October 12, 2016, five Muslim families were searched in Crimea. As a result of the searches, five Crimean Tatars were detained, accused of participation of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir in Russia: Rustem Ismailov, Uzeir Abdullayev, Teymur Abdullayev, Emil Jemadenov, Aider Saledinov.

Representatives of the international Islamic political organization Hizb ut-Tahrir call their mission the unification of all Muslim countries in the Islamic caliphate, but they reject the terrorist methods of achieving this and say that they are subjected to unjust persecution in Russia and Crimea, which was occupied by it in 2014. The Supreme Court of Russia banned “Hizb ut-Tahrir” in 2003 year, including it in the list of associations called “terrorist”.

Defenders of the arrested and convicted in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” of the Crimeans consider their persecution motivated on religious grounds. Lawyers note that the Russian law enforcement agencies persecuted in this case are mostly Crimean Tatars, as well as Ukrainians, Russians, Tajiks, Azerbaijanis and Crimeans of another ethnic origin who profess Islam. International law prohibits the introduction of the legislation of the occupying state in the occupied territory.
